Eliot Porter
The graceful bird opening its wings during mid-flight in a bright blue background really appeals to me. There's great depth in field and the subject is situated perfectly in the middle.

This photo really demonstrates the amazing contrasting colours of nature. The richly saturated green moss really 'pops" out and grabs the attention of the person.

Once again, contrast plays a major role in this photo. The red tree really stands out in the black background.

This photo was captured at the perfect time as the sun was setting which allowed the orange colour to seep through the rock. I like this photo because it has great saturated colour.

This photo is very interesting as it plays with your perspective and forces you to see it in a different way. It looks like a waterfall but also looks like a small stream.

Examples of Eliot Porter's work
taken from 1952-1966
The photos above, taken by Eliot Porter, not only drew me into his work but inspired me to see nature in a different way. I chose these photos because they really played with the contrasting colours of nature and reveals the hidden beauty within. Eliot Porter's techniques, influenced by the photographers of his time are present in each of the photos shown. The photography style he used was called pictorialism, in which the picture is taken in a straight foward manner. I particularly like this type of style because it brings out the beauty of simple photography.
